Ladies and gentlemen, swearing has been banned on YouTube.
I am not kidding.
It is now actually a strike-worthy offense to have profanity in your videos. This combined with the typical strikeability of edits in the first place essentially means: All of our channels are fucking DOOMED and editing is now about as safe as tying your backpack velcro to your pubic hair and then throwing it out a window.
Everybody download as many edits as you can and upload 'em on a backup

You can't monetise the majority of edits so, editing is still alive.

OK after an unsuccessful Twitter argument w/ someone who shall go nameless, I have since realized they aren't actually taking down profane videos and I apologize for having posted this so soon without any real facts.
HOWEVER this still makes me fear for the future of editing, not the possibility of the videos being taken down but them just dying in popularity in general
Let me explain: Regardless of your opinion on these changes, I think we can agree on one thing: the majority of the people who support them are people, mostly mothers who don't know the facts either and just think they sanctioned YouTube of any dirty content. As a result, these people will try to find an episode of their favorite cartoon, believing YouTube has been completely purged of any adult content, discover edits and be horrified that it actually still exists. Therefore I feel the number of irate mothers who just wanted to play SpongeBob for their kids will significantly grow and eventually overtake the positive comments on an edit. Eventually people will regard editing as no longer a fun thing to do due to the increased amount of sheer bile in the comments and it will die out.
(Not to mention the majority of future editors are probably little kids who misunderstood the rules too and have gone back on it believing it to be no longer allowed)

Well shoot, I think I (and hopefully others) will try to keep editing alive for as long as I/they can. Even if I took a 20 year hiatus, I'd come back with a new edit or two.

ok I admit I jumped the gun with this however, there is NOTHING to misunderstand with this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wh_1966vaIAI even read the whole thing just to make sure I didn't make an ass of myself like last time and it's true, one of only three ways you can get points is reporting videos that violate community guidlines and mind you copyright AND inappropriate content are against the community guidelines, and EVERYBODY has a different interpretation of what constitutes that that may or may not include edits so if you randomly select random people from youtube...you do the math. get ready for a shitton of edits to get taken down
